Instrument Insurance Coverage
A Musical Instrument Coverage benefit, available under many Thailand Event Insurance plans, offers essential protection for instruments used during any performance-related event.
This optional coverage protects against accidental damage, destruction, burglary, or theft, ensuring that organizers and performers are not left footing the bill if key musical equipment is lost or harmed during the event.
Covered items under this benefit include:
- Classical and orchestral instruments
- Traditional or regional instruments
- Electric and electronic instruments
- Instrument accessories and spare parts
- Protective cases, including flight cases, custom boxes, and transit containers
Coverage begins the moment the instruments are received by the policyholder and remains active through the entire event lifecycle; including setup, rehearsal, performance, and teardown. The protection offered under this type of benefit ends once the instruments are returned or handed over post-show.
If the instruments are owned by the event organizer or performers, the policy reimburses for accidental damage or total loss based on their original purchase value, minus 0.5% depreciation per month from the purchase date.
For rented or loaned instruments, compensation is based on the real replacement value at the time of the loss.
Important exclusions include:
- Pre-existing damage to any instrument
- Deliberate damage, including destruction caused during a performance for artistic effect
So, if a band plans to channel their inner rock legends and smash guitars on stage, they should know this behavior won’t be covered under most Musical Instrument Coverage benefits under an Event Insurance plan.
