Explanation
Community Rated Insurance Premiums
As mentioned earlier, the majority of Thailand health insurance plans offered by CCW Global and our local insurance partners operate on a community-rated premium basis. This means that all individuals of the same age, with identical coverage areas and benefit levels, will pay the same premium amount; regardless of whether or not they have made claims.
With a community rating structure, your personal claims history will never affect your policy cost. This provides peace of mind, allowing you to use your health insurance when needed without worrying about future price hikes as a result.
Premium adjustments under community rated plans are only influenced by two key factors: your age and the overall rise in healthcare costs. As you grow older, or as medical inflation increases, your premium may rise accordingly; but these increases are shared evenly across all members within the same rating group. In effect, this means that if your premium goes up, so does everyone else's who shares your demographic and coverage profile.
The principle behind community-rated health insurance is to distribute risk across a larger pool of policyholders. This structure not only supports higher levels of coverage but also helps to keep premiums more consistent and predictable compared to experience-rated plans, where an individual's claims history directly influences the cost of their policy.
