Dental Waiting Periods
It’s essential to be aware that nearly all Thailand health insurance plans offering dental benefits will include a waiting period before those benefits become active. Finding a dental policy without a waiting period is exceptionally rare.
A waiting period refers to the set amount of time you must maintain your insurance policy before you’re eligible to make a claim for covered treatment. Any dental procedures received before the completion of the waiting period won’t be covered under your policy. Only treatments performed after the waiting period has expired will be reimbursed under the plan.
This requirement exists because most adults already have some form of dental issue (be it impacted wisdom teeth, gum concerns, or plaque buildup) when applying for dental insurance coverage. To prevent immediate claims for known conditions, insurers implement waiting periods as a form of protection.
